Amarone Archivio Storico 2013 has its origin in the historic vineyards of Tenuta Costalunga, in the highest and most breezy part of the cru. Here, on calcareous marl and deep soils, the roots naturally delve in search of mineral salts that give the wine tension, complexity and refined elegance.
The 2013 vintage was selected for its ability to express balance, freshness and a fruit of rare precision. A single Slavonian oak cask was chosen to cradle the wine in silence for over ten years. This choice embodies the spirit of the project itself: allowing the wine the time it needs to reveal its deepest essence.
After this long maturation in wood, the result is an Amarone of remarkable intensity: its deep ruby-red colour evolves towards garnet hues; on the nose, notes of ripe cherry, marasca, small red berries and a complex spice profile reminiscent of cocoa, pepper and balsamic herbs emerge. On the palate, it is broad, warm and enveloping, supported by a solid structure and a freshness that perfectly balances its power.
Archivio Storico 2013 marks an important chapter in our story: a limited release of 2,500 bottles and 200 magnums, each individually numbered, created to celebrate our deep bond with Valpolicella and the family legacy that continues to guide us. An Amarone that encapsulates patience, vision and a stylistic signature that, over time, has become a symbol of Zenato’s excellence.
